Janna Scott
is a former Assistant State's Attorney with a brand new
private practice. She's eager for cases, but perhaps her
latest client is one she should have refused. He's a prominent
and respected doctor accused of criminal sexual assault
against one of his patients. It's a messy, sensational case,
only made worse when the doctor vehemently refuses to take
a plea and insists on fighting the ugly charges in court.
Meanwhile,
a vicious serial killer who calls himself the Soldier of
Death is terrorizing Chicago, and it falls to Janna's former
colleague and sometime lover, Detective Jack Stone, to stop
him. Body after body is found, each bearing the killer's
gruesome trademark, yet evidence is scarce-until a potential
victim escapes alive. . .
